Position Summary:
A slitter operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and assisting maintenance on the slitter machine. The slitter operator is responsible for accurate and precise cuts of the aluminum coils based on customer specifications. This position requires a high level of technical skills, commitment to quality, and a self-driven individual.
· Set up and operate slitting machines to cut aluminum coils into specified widths and lengths according to customer or production requirements.
· Adjust slitter settings, including blade clearance, tension, and speed, ensuring the machine is configured correctly for the cutting specifications.
· Monitor the slitting process, ensuring material is fed correctly through the slitter without defects or issues.
· Load coils onto the slitter, ensuring they are securely placed and aligned for efficient cutting.
· Perform routine machine checks to ensure the slitter is operating at peak efficiency, adjusting settings as necessary to maintain consistent cutting quality.
· Monitor the quality of the coil before, during, and after the slitting process to ensure it meets customer specifications, including width, length, and edge condition.
· Inspect the finished coil for any defects, such as burrs, edge waviness, or dimensional inaccuracies, and adjust machine settings accordingly to prevent recurring issues.
· Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations while operating the slitting machine, ensuring a safe work environment for oneself and others.
· Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves or safety goggles to minimize exposure to hazards associated with slitting operations.
· Conduct regular safety checks of the slitting machine and surrounding area, ensuring that equipment is operating safely and that the work environment is free of potential hazards.
· Report any safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or incidents to the shift supervisor immediately.
· Environment:In an aluminum coil coating environment, which includes exposure to high noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and fumes/vapors.
· Shifts:Rotating shifts that include days, nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Pace:Fast-paced industrial setting that requires constant awareness of moving machinery and materials.
· Experience of operating slitting machines or similar metal-processing equipment is preferred.
· Basic mathematical skills, including converting fractions to decimals.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings preferred.
· Arithmetic and measurement skills:Proficiency in arithmetic operations and accurate use of measurement tools.
· Highly motivated:Shows a strong drive and enthusiasm to achieve production goals and seeks opportunities for growth.
· Reliability:Demonstrates consistency in completing tasks, meeting deadlines, and takes ownership of issues and works to resolve them.
· Detail-oriented: Ensures materials and machines are handled and operated safely to prevent damage.
· Time management skills: Must be motivated and take the initiative to meet production requirements.
· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail bending and stooping.
· Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
