This initiative is crucial for minimizing downtime, boosting efficiency, and maintaining our competitive edge. We're seeking dedicated professionals to join our Reliability Program Coordination Team and help us drive significant improvements in asset reliability.
This position is responsible for identifying and managing reliability improvements to steel producing equipment and facilities, minimizing downtime, and ensuring operational efficiency. The Reliability Engineer will report to the Preventative Maintenance Engineer.
- Leads or participates in Equipment Criticality Assessments, Critical Spares Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses, FMEA
- Routinely access and query the CMMS (Maximo) and other equipment databases for data as needed
- Provides input to engineering standards based upon equipment failure data and lessons learned
- Manages special initiative projects under the direction of the Corporate Preventative Maintenance Engineer.
- Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating equipment reliability and design improvements to meet its intended or existing service conditions
- Works with the Engineering Department to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
- Periodically travel to other Universal sites to benchmark reliability initiatives and develop best practices.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in maintenance tasks and record-keeping.
- Safety Awareness: Adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
- Experience: Prior experience in a maintenance or engineering role with specific steel industry experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineer, or any equivalent title.
- 5+ years heavy industrial or manufacturing – Steel making experience preferred.- Reliability centered maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of IBM Maximo EAM platform is a strong plus.
