Location:
This is a remote/site-based role with the ability to travel and be located at project sites across the U.S (many projects in Texas).
Position Overview:
The Site Project Manager for our Data Center Projects is responsible for leading the full lifecycle execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid energy projects at the site level for data centers. This role is integral to the successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure, beginning with site mobilization and construction planning through execution, commissioning support, and project closeout. Reporting directly to the Project Executive, this role oversees all on-site activities, managing teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations. The Site Project Manager works closely with the Commissioning Manager to coordinate system turnover activities, including managing documentation, overseeing on-site vendor activities, facilitating punch list resolution, and aligning the general contractor’s efforts with the needs of the commissioning team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the jobsite primary point of contact with the client, maintaining alignment across all project stages.
- Supporting the Project Executive in delivering the full scope of project execution, including safety, schedule, budget, engineering, quality, commissioning, and compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules using recognized tools and methodologies.
- Support with execution to align with project budgets from planning to final close-out, including monthly forecasting and variance tracking.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate jobsite level project risks related to cost, safety, quality, and delivery.
- Oversee daily on-site operations by monitoring General Contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with project scope, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
- Oversee vendor on-site activities to ensure adherence to site safety rules, quality standards, and equipment commissioning timelines.
- Lead and facilitate regular coordination meetings with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and client teams to track progress, resolve issues, and align on upcoming work.
- Conduct routine site walks to observe construction activities, validate compliance with design documents, and identify potential risks or deviations early.
- Manage field quality activities include coordinating equipment receipt inspections, managing installation inspections, and ensuring documentation for quality reporting is maintained.
- Support the Project Executive in managing all change orders, RFIs, NCRs, PCNs, and VCNs in a timely and traceable manner.
- Ensue daily JSA/JHAs are in place, morning toolbox meetings occur, safety and commissioning teams are aligned prior to the start of daily activities, end of day meeting to ensure alignment on next days activities and goals.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers and partners to improve execution quality and delivery performance.
- Support Project Executive in validating subcontractor invoices and payment applications by cross-referencing with field progress and contractual terms.
- Collaborate closely with safety personnel and commissioning teams to ensure daily readiness, compliance with site safety protocols, and startup of new systems.
- Coordinate closely with the Commissioning Site Manager to align construction activities with system readiness, turnover packages, and commissioning schedules
- Support contract close-out and final project documentation handover.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in energy project management, preferably in battery energy storage or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing EPC contractors and overseeing complex infrastructure projects at project sites.
- Proficient in project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and budget tracking systems.
- Deep understanding of project controls, cost forecasting, and risk management best practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required).
