Site Mechanical Engineer

Job Overview

Reporting to Site MRO (Maintenance, Reliability and Outage) team lead, this position is responsible for SAGD, Upgrader facilities and pipeline routine maintenance and operation support through utilizing our client's MOC and SAP system to identify and register issues or risks associated with facility operation and provide engineering solutions. This position will also participate in facility turn around and shut down scoping, planning, scheduling, provide the required engineering support to the above activities to improve asset safety and reliability.

Key Accountabilities

· Support engineering analysis for modifications and new designs of piping, pressure vessels and mechanical equipment;

· Conduct Fitness for Service assessments and coordinate external engineering support;

· Develop and maintain engineering standards and specifications relating to mechanical equipment and systems;

· Auditing of plant site pre-commissioning including proper equipment preservation methods;

· Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

· At least 5 years maintenance and/or reliability experience in the oil or gas industry

· Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

Skills and Knowledge:

· Versed in current statutory regulations, industry standards and recommended practices, such as ASME IX, ASME VIII, ASME B31.1 and 31.3, API 650, 620;

· Plant site experience in SAGD, Upgrader, or similar oil industry is desired. Other industrial site experience will be considered.

· Demonstrated capability to analyze mechanical equipment, such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers and tanks,

· Experience on pressure piping system, conduct stress analysis and perform fitness for service evaluations in an operating plant environment;

· Practical experience in supporting maintenance and project requirements;

· Experience with material handling and rotating equipment considered an asset;

· Technical strength coupled with interpersonal skills;

· Excellent planning and execution drive to deliver results and meet quality, cost, and schedule targets;

· Ability to work in an unstructured environment to help develop new systems and infrastructure;

· Must have strong PC skills and excellent written and verbal communication

· Hands-on experience and working knowledge of SAP would be a significant asset

· Hands-on experience of SolidWorks, Caesar II, AutoCAD considered an asset.

· Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, pursuing operational excellence through a disciplined process to improve effectiveness, efficiency and sustainment of processes and services.

· Ability to work in an operation environment for equipment information verification and validation
