To help co-workers (tong operators, tong mechanics, and bucking operators) by performing assistance duties. These duties include but are not limited to: supplying materials and tools, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring equipment is free of defects and fully operational, in accordance with all applicable specifications.
- Help assistant tong mechanics and welders with repair, maintenance, service, and fabrication of equipment as needed.
- Examine equipment to verify conformance to all applicable quality and regulatory standards.
- Observe equipment testing so malfunctions can be detected.
- Lift and transport equipment or materials manually, by forklift or by using hoists.
- Help ensure that job orders are complete.
- Load and unload equipment in direct compliance with all safety standards.
- Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
- Document information, such as the number of equipment tested and dates and times of maintenance.
- Handle and move objects by using hands and arms to install, position, and move materials and equipment.
- Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences and/or similarities, and detecting changes in situations or events.
- Inspect equipment and materials to identify errors and/or other problems.
- Provide daily required information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, and/or in person.
- Run, maneuver, navigate, or drive approved equipment safely when applicable.
- Assess the value, importance, and quality of tasks and objectives in accordance with all safety policies.
- Perform all other company duties as required by owners/ management.
- Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move hands, move hands together with arms, and grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects.
- Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Strength — The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body repeatedly or continuously over time without fatigue for necessary daily job duties.
- Arm-Hand Steadiness — The ability to keep hands and arms steady while in one position.
- Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that a problem potentially exists.
- Multi-limb Coordination — The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down.
- Oral Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- ·Must wear common protective safety equipment, as required, such as: steel toe boots, safety glasses, regulatory compliant gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, life jackets, and flammable retardant clothing.
- Job duties mostly require standing, stooping, lifting, and other physical activities.
- This position requires mental awareness of potential safety hazards and potentially dangerous situations.
- It is the responsibility of all employees to immediately report a potential hazard to management immediately.
