I. Position Description
Plans, directs and manages all inbound and outbound logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, railcar coordination, hazardous waste shipments, and over-the-road (OTR) trucking. This role works cross-functionally with Corporate Sales, Quality, Raw Materials, Operations, and Transportation Logistics to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transportation and material handling. The manager leads a team of salaried staff, hourly production employees, and company drivers.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities•Coordinates with Corporate Operations, the amount of product to be shipped on any given day, inventories of finished lead at the plant, any add on loads, and any special requirements, such as expedited deliveries to be made to meet customer expectations.
•Coordinates with Corporate Raw Materials regarding inbound loads, weight or product discrepancies, types of materials the plant can receive and process, and material flow.
•Coordinates with Corporate Sales on any customer concerns or complaints, resolution thereof, and planning or preparation needed for new customers.
•Coordinates daily/weekly/monthly activities with Corporate Transportation concerning all outbound finished lead loads regarding best method or means of trucking to minimize empty miles traveled to ensure cost per mile on fleet is at a minimum.
•Manages registration, licensing, and routine compliance updates for company-owned vehicles and equipment. Records and tracks fuel and mileage on company-owned tractors for tax purposes.
•Monitors Teletrac Reports to schedule maintenance of trailers in need of repair, tires, etc.
•Coordinates incoming and outgoing railcar movement with applicable railroads to ensure timely movement of raw materials and finished goods.
•Coordinates loading, tracking and shipments of all hazardous wastes generated by plant.
•Catalogues all incoming and outbound hazardous waste shipments and receipts.
•Coordinates activities, inventories, shipments, receipts and processing materials going in and out of the plant; RCRA requirement.
•Conducts annual re-orientation for Company drivers, ensuring all DOT rules and Regulations are enforced.
•Reviews Driver’s logs ensuring DOT compliance.
•Maintains Driver’s Qualification records files with JJ Keller.
•Provides Driver’s training, testing, as needed.
•Conducts Safety meetings and audits.
•Orders Plant Diesel Fuel, recording usage by Work Centers and reports Plant’s fuel usage to Corporate Accounting for tax refund purposes.
•Manages inventories, storage and movement of all material stored inside the plant and at outside warehouse facilities by the plant.
•Manages three Work Centers which includes Local Trash Hauling, Over-the-Road Trucking and Shipping.
•Processes high volume of invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payments.
•Checks outstanding invoices in SAP and processes for payment.
•Fuel and Utility Consumption Reports
•Oversees monthly inventory reporting and reconciliation. Disposal Costs
•Supports and coordinates the annual physical inventory counts and audit preparation. Ensures routine calibration, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for all commercial truck scales (inbound/outbound) and floor scales throughout the production areas.
•Salaried – manages exempt and non-exempt classifications of employees in Shipping/Receiving operations. Processes weekly timesheets for payroll purposes. Performs annual performance reviews.
•Hourly Production - manages hourly production employees in Shipping operations adhering to Contract and their Attendance & Progressive Disciplinary Procedures. Processes weekly payroll. Performs annual performance reviews. Ensures employees are adequately trained.
•Over-the-Road Drivers – manages over-the-road drivers; adhering to the Contract, Driver Policies Manual and the DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy Manual for Drivers. Oversees weekly payroll for drivers. Performs annual performance reviews.

•5 - 7 years managerial experience in Shipping & Receiving with experience shipping and receiving hazardous waste and/or trucking operations
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related subject, or equivalent experience.
•Good oral and written communication skills in English
•Current knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations
•Railcar experience preferred
•Strong, proven leadership and organizational skills
•Excellent computer skills proficiency, Excel, Word and Power Point
•Excellent interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
•Safety training (including OHSAS 45001 and for applicable equipment)
•Environmental compliance training applicable to the job
•EMS (ISO 14001) awareness, including plant EMS objectives and targets, and significant environmental aspects and impacts
•Quality system (ISO 9001) familiarization
•Job instructional training
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is and occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of his job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
