REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
SALARY RANGE: $21.00-33.00/Hour
HOURS: 40 hours weekly
SUMMARY: The Shipper is responsible for sending, accepting, inspecting, and recording the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and stock to and from the Tradesman Facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Uses picking slips to accurately pick customer orders.
•Prepare orders for shipment (package product onto skids, use shrink wrapper to wrap skids)
•Assemble containers and crates, pack products to be shipped in a manner that maximizes space utilization and prevents damage as per sales order.
•Verify that picking slips match against orders and physical product being shipped.
•Ensure loads are properly skidded and correct product is sent.
•Prepare identifying information and shipping instructions. Ensure each skid is labelled properly.
•Load efficiently and effectively within the time limits set out.
•Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out and no damaged materials are accepted in.
•Maintain internal record-keeping systems and follow outlined procedures.
•Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies.
•Provide quality customer service for customers picking up and customers we deliver to
•Perform daily/weekly/monthly documentation (daily forklift inspections, warehouse audits, monthly LEAN audits).
•Clear and concise communication with supervisor on work schedules/flows.
•Other duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•Manual dexterity required for operating forklifts, machinery and moving product.
•Ground to waist and waist to overhead lifting up to 60lbs repetitively.
•Excellent eyesight and depth perception. Prescription eye correction is mandatory for those who require it.
•Walking on both even and uneven ground.
•Standing for extended periods
•Frequent Twisting/turning, bending and reaching
•Good physical health and can perform a large variety of physical activities
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Update work instructions as needed.
•Ensure all safety regulations are followed and safety documentation is being filed.
•Maintain a clean and efficient warehouse: by sweeping/shovelling driveways, walkways, steps and shipping areas, keeping tidy mezzanines and consolidating pallets, removing garbage, returning tools to their home location, and putting pulled but not shipped product back in its home location.
•Keep aisles, shipping areas and yard, tidy and organized.
•Maintain a good example of safety and courtesy for all employees and visitors to the Tradesman Facility.
•Ability to multitask to meet deadlines and remain efficient.
•Willing to be cross-trained and move to other areas when needed.
•Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Working conditions are normal for a warehouse environment.
•Exposure to seasonal temperature changes.
•Outside work required in all weather conditions.
•Exposure to loud/noisy environment.
•Jewellery and loose-fitting clothes not permitted.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
•Forklift certification with a min. of 1 year of operating experience.
•Intermediate computer skills including MS Office suite, data entry, data look-up, running/printing reports.
•An understanding of material handling procedures and hazardous material handling.
•Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers.
•Respect in the Workplace Training.
•The Right to Refuse Unsafe Work Training.
•WHMIS 2015 including the GHS for Workers and Supervisors – All Jurisdictions.
•Workplace Violence and Harassment Training for Employees (Alberta).
•Possess an education or experience level that permits the Team Member to effectively communicate and perform all duties/responsibilities.
EQUIPMENT
•Forklift (stand up and/or AisleMaster)
•IT equipment (Computer/tablet/barcode scanner/phone)
•Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
+ Including, but not limited to, CSA approved safety glasses and steel toe foot protection, high visibility vests, hearing protection, and hard hats
•All PPE to be kept in good repair at all times (replacements requested as required).
KNOWLEDGE
•General Safety polices & procedures.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
•Oral comprehension and expression; Must speak, read and write in English equivalent to the OECD Level 2 or higher.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS
•Ability to perform basic mathematical equations with precision and accuracy (basic addition/subtraction and multiplication/division equations, count, weigh & measure). Numeracy skills equivalent to the OECD Level 2 or higher.
