The Setup Technician is responsible for assembling, configuring, and setting up equipment or machinery in preparation for slitting or blanking. This role ensures arbors for slitting or blanking are set to customer/machine specs through the use of a tooling program designed for slitting steel coils.
· Machine Set Up: Assemble, configure, and install tooling according to specifications.
· Setup & Adjustment: Troubleshoot and resolve issues during setup, identifying and rectifying any technical problems.
· Quality Control: Ensure that all necessary tools and materials are available and in proper working condition for setup tasks.
· Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and functions according to safety standards.
· Maintain accurate records of setups, including inventory logs specifications.
· Provide guidance and support to end-users during the handover phase of the setup process.
· Work closely with the maintenance and service teams to address equipment concerns and improve setup procedures.
· Assist with any other duties as needed, including equipment disassembly or adjustments post-setup.
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or an associate’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
· Previous experience in setup, math skills (fractions and decimals) is a plus.
· Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
· Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
· Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physical tasks as needed.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Ability to stand for long periods, operate heavy machinery, and perform manual tasks in a factory setting.
· Properly wear PPE and handle machinery safely.
