Service Technician / Mechanic

Overview

We’re hiring Service Technicians/Mechanics to keep our fleet running safely and reliably. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and occasionally customer-facing, so we need people with a strong work ethic, good attitude, and pride in doing the job right.

Duties

- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on trucks and equipment.

- Complete work orders and record repairs accurately and on time.

- Road test vehicles after service to confirm safe operation.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

- Communicate clearly with the team about job status and parts needs.

- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractors using schematics and technical manuals.

- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and suspension adjustments to maximize equipment lifespan.

- Repair and overhaul diesel engines and transmissions in various machinery ensuring optimal performance.

- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to assemble or modify parts as needed.

- Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics, wiring issues, sensors, and control modules; perform electrical repairs with precision.

- Service farm machinery and industrial equipment by inspecting hydraulic systems, air brakes, HVAC components, and hydraulics to prevent downtime.

- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed; interpret schematics for complex troubleshooting tasks.

- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate lifting gear; operate equipment such as excavators or cranes when necessary.

- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly and ensuring client satisfaction with workmanship.

Technology / Mobile Phone Requirement

This job requires using a smartphone during the workday. Technicians use their phone to access company systems for:

- clocking in/out and payroll timekeeping,

- logging in/out of assigned trucks,

- documenting completed repairs and uploading required photos/notes.

You must be comfortable using your personal cell phone for these work functions.

Requirements

- Prior fleet, diesel, or heavy equipment experience preferred (as applicable).

- Valid driver’s license required. CDL is a plus.

- Must provide your own tools suitable for professional mechanical work.

- Must pass a comprehensive drug test and background check.

- Able to lift, bend, and work in shop/outdoor conditions

- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.

- Dealership experience highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems like Caterpillar or similar brands.

- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.

- Ability to perform complex repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes (including air brake systems), HVAC units, shocks & struts.

- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting.

- Experience working with farm machinery or industrial equipment is advantageous.

- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working in various environmental conditions.

Pay: $20.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
