Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for a
Senior Transmission Line Engineerto support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in our San Diego or Los Angeles office. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design. Specific areas of responsibility are provided below.
- Plan, analyze, and design a variety of transmission line projects with project scopes varying from new to rebuilt facilities
- Responsible for technical content and deliverables while working with multi-discipline teams under the guidance of the assigned Project Engineer or Manager
- Demonstrates solid understanding of the transmission line project lifecycle to identify and propose resolutions to engineering related scope, schedule, and cost issues.
- Lead communication with equipment vendors, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure product delivery meets project needs
- Research issues related to transmission line projects to propose project alternatives and recommended solution
- Prepare technical plans, specifications, presentations and reports, and design packages for transmission line projects
- Producing technical presentations and design drawings
- Act as a liaison between Kosmos Group engineering and construction teams by conducting field site visits, providing construction support, and responding to RFIs
- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct peer reviews of projects, ensuring deliverables are error free prior to customer submittal
- Prepare proposal work estimates and technical scopes to support the sales effort
- Provide feedback and recommendation for Company Quality procedures and champion Continuous Improvement Efforts
- Provide guidance, mentoring and instruction to the transmission engineering department
- Approve and Stamp designs while serving as the project EOR (Engineer of Record)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum seven (7) years or more of related experience
- A California Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
- Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and advanced knowledge in Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)
- Experience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews
- Working knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
- Advanced Working knowledge of GO95 and/or NESC
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems/software to execute production
- Advanced Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for project support
- A master’s degree is preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
- Advanced Working knowledge of Wildfire Mitigation
For California only, this position's base salary range approximation is $147,000.00 - $177,000.00 and it depends on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
