Position Summary
Ergon is seeking a Senior Technical Expert and Business Development Manager (T-BDM) to support the growth of our insulating fluids business by driving technical engagement and identifying business development opportunities across global markets. This dual-role position bridges technical expertise and commercial strategy, supporting our mission to deliver innovative, reliable, and sustainable solutions for transformer OEMs, utilities, and immersion cooling applications. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, technical credibility, and a commercial mindset to help accelerate our position as a market leader.
Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Customer Engagement
- Lead the technical approval process with OEMs, utilities, and key customers for all new product introductions.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for insulating fluids and immersion cooling solutions.
- Build and maintain strong technical relationships with clients, providing consultative support throughout the sales process.
- Partner with Product Services teams and R&D to deliver customer-specific technical solutions.
- Drive technical collaboration with universities, laboratories, and industry organizations to advance product innovation.
- Promote Ergon products with a focus on revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
- Support the sales team in identifying and converting new opportunities in assigned regions.
- Document and manage key technical stakeholders using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
- Assist in developing and executing regional growth strategies and providing input for R&D and marketing initiatives.
- Develop technical presentations, white papers, and collateral to support product marketing and customer education.
- Monitor industry trends, regulations, and competitor offerings to inform product positioning and development.
- Assist in shaping messaging and tools for product launches, in collaboration with the global HyVolt strategy team.
- Represent Ergon in relevant technical committees and working groups (e.g., IEC TC10, CIGRÉ, IEEE, ASTM).
- Advocate for Ergon's interests in regulatory discussions and industry forums.
- Capture and share insights on emerging market trends and regulatory developments.
- Lead region-specific technical and marketing projects, managing timelines, stakeholders, and outcomes.
- Support the introduction of new products, working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and R&D.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of industry experience, including at least 5 years in technical roles related to base oils, insulating fluids, or relevant customer-facing engineering work (e.g., utility, transformer OEM)- Proven ability to lead technical projects and gain customer/OEM product approvals
- Strong relationship-building skills across all levels, from engineers to executives
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel 50%+ domestically and internationally- Self-starter who thrives in a cross-functional, remote, and global environment
- MBA or advanced technical degree
- Experience in immersion cooling applications or dielectric fluid development
- Demonstrated participation in industry standards organizations and regulatory committees
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms
- Experience coaching or mentoring sales and technical teams
