We are looking for a Senior SCADA Engineer to join our Solutions Architecture & Development team to design, develop, and implement SCADA solutions using Ignition for our data center energy management platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA development and industrial system integration. They will work closely with customers and engineering teams to build visualization, control, and monitoring capabilities into our product. This position will be based remotely with occasional travel for customer onboarding and field deployment support, requiring someone who can balance technical development with customer-facing implementation work.
- Develop and configure Ignition SCADA applications including HMI screens, alarm management, and real-time data visualization for power management systems
- Program Ignition scripts (Python/Jython) for data processing, calculations, and automated control sequences
- Configure Ignition gateway connections to industrial devices using OPC-UA, Modbus TCP, SNMP, and other protocols
- Build responsive Perspective and Vision dashboards for monitoring UPS, PDUs, generators, cooling systems, and other critical infrastructure
- Implement tag structures, UDTs, and templates aligned with OPC-UA companion specifications for power equipment
- Collaborate with customers to gather requirements and customize SCADA interfaces for specific data center environments
- Support field deployment and commissioning activities including on-site configuration and troubleshooting
- Integrate Ignition with cloud services, databases, and the broader EMS platform using MQTT and REST APIs
- Create and maintain SCADA documentation including operating procedures, tag databases, and screen navigation guides
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or Associate degree with 8 years relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in SCADA development, industrial automation, or control systems- Hands-on experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition platform including Perspective, Vision, and Tag configuration
- Proficiency in Python/Jython scripting for Ignition development
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus, BACnet, MQTT)
- Experience with SQL databases and writing complex queries for historical data and reporting
- Understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and critical infrastructure components
- Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Strong troubleshooting skills for communication, networking, and integration issues
- Travel may be required up to 25% for customer onboarding and field support
- Solar Industry experience (Renewable)
- Ignition Gold Certification or Core Certification
- Experience with data center infrastructure including UPS, PDU, generators, and cooling systems
- Knowledge of power monitoring equipment (meters, relays, RTUs)
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for OT/SCADA systems
- Experience with edge computing and distributed SCADA architectures
- Understanding of ISA-101 HMI standards and high-performance HMI design
- Experience with redundant/failover SCADA configurations
- Knowledge of alarm management standards (ISA 18.2)
- Experience with version control for SCADA projects (Git)
