Job Summary: Responsible for day-to-day execution, project controls, project engineering, cost, risk and business management of the project(s). Management will be of commercial projects within core markets. Senior Project Managers will work closely with all members of the project team, executive(s) and regional leadership teams. The primary purpose of this role is high-level oversight and support of projects and their teams.
Responsibilities
•Management of all project team members (project managers, superintendents, project assistant, etc.)
•Mentor, develop and train team members for fast-paced growth
•100% detailed, hands-on knowledge of project scope
•Cost control, billings, collections, etc.
•Key point of contact with owner and architects
•Challenge and support jobsite and self-perform work team
•Accountable for project completion and financials, critical success factors, customer satisfaction results
•Oversee multiple projects or one large complex project and their teams
•Lead the project teams to ensure the “big picture” goals are achieved
•Help resolve major problems to enable the project team to focus on building
•Assess and adjust roles and responsibilities of the team as needed for success of project and teammates
•Mentor teammates to help them grow and be successful in their career
•Training staff to ensure procedures and processes are being followed and lessons learned are being shared amongst everyone
•Lead the preconstruction process for projects with or without help from others
•Preconstruction shall include conceptual budgeting, RFP packages, estimating, qualifications, prelim schedule/logistics, risk management, staffing, etc.
•Business development activities with potential and existing clients – hosting lunch/dinner, jobsite tours, attending industry events, etc.
•Assist with HR duties – includes interviews, hiring, mentoring, and training staff
•Support an “injury-free” environment and enforce the safety program.
•Support “zero-defects” craftsmanship and enforce the quality control program.
•Assist with permitting process of the AHJ as needed – TCEQ, site development, building, etc.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field
•10+ years of experience as a lead project manager for commercial construction
•Flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines
•Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
•Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
•Ability to create and support team morale
•Demonstrated understanding of building processes and systems
•Work scope requires complete understanding of cost estimating, budgeting and forecasting
•Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Procore or similar), accounting cost management software (Sage or similar), and scheduling software (Project or similar)
•Experience with running multiple complex and highly technical projects
•Both ground-up and interior finish-out project experience
•A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude
Working Conditions:
•Occasional weekend or after-hours work required
•May occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat
•Work may require frequent site visits to properties
