Title: Senior Project Manager
Base Location: High Point, NC
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Summary: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading CMT’s Project Managers and Superintendents. Key areas of responsibility include project management leadership, client relationship management, safety, quality and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management Leadership
· Lead, manage and hold Project Managers accountable.
· Train and equip Project Managers and Superintendents for continuous improvement.
· Responsible for the delivery of safe, quality, on-time and profitable projects.
· Advocate for a culture of safety.
· Assume the responsibilities Operations Manager when he is away.
· Support the transition to a project management software program.
· Thorough understanding of contract documents.
· Ensure proper turnover is conducted between sales and production.
· Provide project Gannt charts, schedule of values, submittal approvals, shop drawings, requests for Information and project progress reports.
· Track project progress weekly via Project Status Indicator (PSI).
· Manage change orders.
· Coordinate with Finance to provide Work in Progress calculations.
· Manage subcontractor agreements.
· Oversee project closeout and billing.
Client Relationship Management
· Attends progress meetings with clients, engineers and inspectors to manage client expectations.
· Conduct project site visits ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
· Communicates with clients to preemptively navigate challenges.
· Demonstrate clarity, excellence and expertise in communication and project management.
Desired Skills & Experience:
•Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, coatings, why coatings fail, corrosion issues and preparation standards
•Proficient with project management software
•Competency in basic math skills including geometry and accounting practices
•Ability to think through spatial and multi-dimensional projects with strong common sense and ingenuity to solve problems
•Ability to motivate a team to the successful completion of a project for retention purposes
•Strong multi-tasking skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•Basic computer skills including competency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
•Communicate effectively, while constantly displaying a service mentality to the company, clients and staff
•Strong time management skills including instilling time management in team members
•Able to work extended hours, weekends and holidays on occasions when required
•Ability to travel throughout the state of North Carolina and the southeast with overnight stays as projects dictate
•Attend conferences and training classes, out of state if necessary, to become certified as coating inspector and attain other certifications for professional development
•Must maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record and other mobile equipment
Physical Aspects of Position:
•Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), carry paint, handle equipment, climb ladders, bending, standing, stoop, climbing or walking
•Work involves light work in an office setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing and walking. Some exposure to excessive noise, moving machinery, dust, fumes, elevated heights, confined spaces, gases, chemicals and extreme changes in temperature/humidity while in field
Special Requirements:
Must possess or obtain a vehicle suitable and appropriate for the type of business use, 10,000 lb. or better gross combination weight rating (GCWR).
