The Senior Product Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products and systems, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and efficiency while aligning with company objectives. This role will play a key part in establishing and building the Product Design department, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions, enhancing product quality, and optimizing design processes.
· Responsible for managing and guiding the work of Product Project Managers, Business Development Specialists, and Quality Specialists within the team.
· Must exhibit strong leadership behaviors aligned with the company's, "Great 8: Leadership Core Competencies"
· Create and refine product designs using CAD software, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and performance criteria.
· Collaborate with internal teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables, while managing budgets and timelines.
· Develop prototypes, conduct tests, and analyze performance to optimize design for manufacturing and market viability.
· Evaluate materials for durability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards, ensuring high-quality production.
· Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and marketing teams to ensure product feasibility and market readiness.
· Research emerging design trends and technologies, integrating best practices into the product development process.
· Present designs, prototypes, and reports to stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
· Generate and maintain Bills of Materials and Item Data in CAD and MRP Databases.
· Perform and coordinate Engineering Change Notices across inter-departmental functions.
· Knowledge of quality assurance and product testing methodologies.
· Experience in production fixture design a plus.
· Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role is required.
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on rare occasions.
