Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting and is responsible for preparing external reporting, providing analytical and technical accounting support and maintaining internal accounting policies and procedures. In addition, this position requires significant interaction with external auditors in a liaison role between the audit team and Trans Mountain corporate staff.

This position will be covering a Maternity leave position, based in the Calgary Head Office.

Key Responsibilities

Compiles and prepares quarterly and annual financial statements, including supporting files, financial reports and detail note disclosures under U.S. GAAP.
Compiles and prepares quarterly and annual consolidated financial information for inclusion in the consolidated statements of the parent company under IFRS.
Prepares and maintains transaction level accounting entries monthly, quarterly & ad hoc, including entries required in the preparation of financial statements.
Prepares financial reports for internal and external use and provides analysis of financial results ad hoc.
Interprets financial results and provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of performance versus a variety of benchmarks (budget, forecast, and prior periods) to assist senior management in decision making.
Performs technical research and provides advice on accounting treatment and/or common practice for recording complex items, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
Maintains compliance with and documentation in support of the organizations internal risk and control matrix.
Provides documentation and explanations as required by external auditors in relation to the audit of financial statements for the company and its parent.


Qualifications And Professional Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
CPA designation required.
1-3 years post designation experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience of preparing financial statements and handling dual currency transactions and consolidations would be advantageous.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP & IFRS would be advantageous.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Appetite to work in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail is critical.
Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
