The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Mines Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent on-site position.

Relocation to Thompson, MB will be required for this role.

In this role you will work with an effective ground control team, including Ground Control Engineers, Mine Technician/Technologists and/or Engineers in Training, to provide Ground Control Services to the mine operations.

Additionally, in this position you will:

•

Ensure safety and stability of mine excavations according to geotechnical requirements.

•

Provide technical support and coordination for ground control risk management programs at mine sites.

•

Advise mine operators and technical staff on ground control strategies and methods.

•

Conduct geotechnical risk assessments of Mine Plans to optimize safety and production.

•

Implement new systems/processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

•

Develop site-specific field instrumentation programs to monitor ground behavior during mining.

About You

Education:

•

Engineering degree in Mine Engineering with a Professional Engineering Designation Preferred.

•

Eligible for registration as a licensed professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba

Experience:

•

3 years of underground mining experience is an asset

Skills:

•

Proficient in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

•

Understanding of mining standards and underground mine design, technology, and activities

•

Experience with RocScience Software, Modelling Software (ie: Map3D, FLAC) and 3D mine design software (Deswik) Preferred

•

Strong communication skills and ability to manage time effectively
