This position is a Senior Engineer/Dam Safety in the Engineering and Technology Operations division. The position will support the Owner’s Dam Safety Program to ensure safety of the City of Seattle’s hydroelectric projects (Boundary, Cedar Falls, Newhalem, Skagit, and South Fork Tolt) and other related structures and facilities. This position will report to the Chief Dam Safety Engineer. The primary reporting work location for this position may be either the Seattle Municipal Tower, or one of the City Light’s hydroelectric facilities.
Engineers in the Dam Safety team lead a diverse range of engineering tasks and thus a broad range of skills/abilities are regularly required. Projects assigned to the Dam Safety team vary in size and type, and often are highly visible within the utility. The position will lead, plan and coordinate work with internal stakeholders (other engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, structural), project delivery, environmental affairs, relicensing, and operations) and external stakeholders (consultants/contractors, emergency management agencies, and regulators).
Dam Safety engineers have a unique opportunity to enjoy travelling to Seattle City Light’s hydroelectric facilities located in beautiful and picturesque areas in Washington such as North Cascades National Park, Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie, and Colville National Forests. This position will report to the Chief Dam Safety Engineer.

Requires five years professional civil engineering experience and a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology; (or a combinations of education and/or training and/or experience, which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Location:
The primary reporting work location could be in Seattle, WA or one of the City Light’s hydroelectric facilities. There is currently s some remote flexibility under the current Mayoral mandate that all Seattle City Light employees are required to work in office a minimum of five days per pay period (every two weeks). The expectations for this specific position will be determined by the Department level authority and may require more days in a City Light office or service center. The Mayoral mandate is subject to change at any time.

The full salary range for this position is hourly rate $72.38 to hourly rate $84.28.
