In this role, you'll lead the engineering design of both overhead and underground distribution systems, applying industry standards, utility practices, and safety codes (NESC) to deliver innovative and reliable infrastructure solutions. $120,000 to $150,000 depending on your skills and years of experience
- Lead the design and development of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities for projects such as voltage conversions, feeder extensions, automation upgrades, and DG interconnections.
- Interpret and apply client standards and safety regulations to generate and revise engineering documentation.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the owner’s engineer role—reviewing, refining, and validating distribution design deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal teams and clients to manage project schedules, ensure QA/QC compliance, and drive on-time delivery across multiple active projects.
- Collaborate with vendors to review equipment specifications and help develop construction standards and design criteria.
- Provide construction planning and support, ensuring designs are executable and aligned with field realities.
- Evaluate designs for regulatory and planning compliance, identifying opportunities for improvement or innovation.
- Take initiative to support evolving client needs and business priorities.
- Solid experience with NESC and applicable codes; deep understanding of utility distribution systems.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex data sets and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with distribution design software/tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, O-Calc (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, Adobe Acrobat, and collaborative tools (Teams, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in utility, consulting, or engineering roles.- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required or ability to obtain on an expedited path.
- Primarily office-based with regular computer use and team/client interaction.
- Occasional movement within the office to access resources.
- Requires clear communication skills and the ability to exchange technical and project-related information accurately.
