Senior Design Specialist (Electrical Designer)

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Design Specialist (Electrical Designer) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Senior Design Specialist (Electrical Designer)-

Duties:

- Design development, and generation of design output documents in the following areas: Equipment Layout, Grounding, Raceway Layout, Lighting Systems, and Schematics, Connection and Wiring Diagrams.

- Develop designs for complex engineering systems.

- Prepare drawings and technical reports.

- Participate in the development of design standards and procedures.

- Perform technical review of design documents and specifications.

- Provide engineering services support to construction activities.

- Prepare construction installation specifications and details.

- Prepare procurement specifications and bid analysis.

- Review and approve Design Change Forms.

- Provide dispositions to Nonconformance Reports and Field Problem Memos by determining a solution to the condition which will satisfy design criteria.

- Perform inspections by facilities, systems, or components as required for proper evaluation of conditions.

- Perform in-depth analyses of advance technical concepts and devise new approaches to technical problems.

Education & Years of Experience:

- An associate’s degree in a technical discipline and at least 10 - 12 years’ work experience or 12 - 16 years of practical work experience.

Skills:

- Required work experience shall include at least 8 years of experience as an Electrical Designer.

- Requires an in-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications.

- Applies advanced principles and practices in engineering to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner.

- Continued updating on new technologies and hardware in the industry is necessary.

- Must demonstrate working knowledge of National Census Codes and Standards for electrical design such as IEC, NEC, NFPA, NEMA, IEEE, and OSHA.

- Significant recent, with-in the last 5 years, experience with 2D MicroStation Computer-Aided Drafting and Design is required.

- Must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed (these walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience.

- Formal training in Computer Aided Design.

- Possessed an active clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.

Other Job Requirements:

- Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
