The Senior Building Automation Technician is responsible for liaising with Property Managers, staff & contractors as well as installing, commissioning and programing building automation systems (“BAS”). Carrying out HVAC troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance are also key job duties. The Senior Building Automation Technician is an integral part of the BAS Team and assists with supervision and training of junior team members. RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
•Timely commissioning and cost control for new Building Automation Systems
•Liaise with external contractors, senior construction leaders, clients and their representatives regarding the BAS.
•Supervises the work of Junior to Intermediate Building Automation Technicians and provides coaching as needed
•Provide training for clients
•Perform functional commissioning and training support for clients’ Commissioning Agents
•Monitor Energy Management Systems in all client buildings.
•Ability to operate HVAC Systems.
•Assist in programming, commissioning and trouble-shooting of Building Energy Management Systems.
•Support operations by assisting in-house and third-party Technicians in the field.
•Support our Customers by providing telephone and computer assistance.
•Maintain up to date knowledge and proficiency on new hardware and software platforms
•Any and all other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.
REQUIREMENTS* 2-4 year technical degree in addition to technical training/certifications.
•Expertise in HVAC System components such as Air Handlers, Boilers, Chillers, and Variable Frequency Drives.
•5+ years of experience having worked as a Building Automation Technician.
•Experience programming and commissioning systems using BACnet and/or P2 protocols.
•Knowledge of IT networks in relation to Building Automation Systems.
•Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
•Exceptional problem solving, organizational and time management skills are essential.
•Excellent customer service skills.
•Certificate in Building Environmental Systems (BES/BSET) or related program, an asset.
•A valid Ontario license and reliable vehicle with valid insurance will be necessary for site visits within the GTA.
•Previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information.
•Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
•High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
WORKING CONDITIONS* Frequent travel to job sites is required.
•Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
•Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
•Lifting or moving up to 30lbs may be required.
