PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Senior Human Resources Advisor to join the Human Resources Team in Calgary.
Reporting to the Director, HR and Communications, the Senior Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing ongoing advice, support, consulting and guidance on a full range of HR matters. As the primary point of contact, the Senior HR Advisor works closely within the Human Resources team to influence, develop, and deliver PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) people priorities, programs and practices to enable business performance and growth, and support business leadership in delivering on these priorities.
A primary focus of this role will be building and developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders to successfully deliver full cycle recruitment solutions to meet recruitment needs. This position will also be responsible for handling through to completion items relating to changes regarding administration of the employee life cycle (i.e. promotions, transfers, leaves etc.) and employee relations matters.
Accountabilities:
The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
•Work with leaders to identify and respond to the HR requirement necessary to translate strategies and plans into the desired operational outcomes
•Provide technical HR guidance to internal clients with a focus on fostering positive relationships
•Ensure the proper execution of all organizational people practices, procedures and policies; advise on and interpret policies and recommend policy improvements; and identify opportunities to improve communication and training accordingly
•Represent the needs, issues, and future requirements of clients within HR as part of the development of an overall HR strategy
•Act as the first point of contact in the delivery of various HR programs (including workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent development, total rewards, and employee relations)
•Provide active coaching within the leadership team of client groups on workforce planning, talent management, and employee relations issues, as well as providing support and advice on specific operational plans, priorities and objectives having human capital implications
•Investigate and resolve employee issues; oversee investigations on misconduct and policy violation issues ensuring documentation is complete
•Act as a key resource to support the overall management of human resources by meeting with employees, listening to concerns, researching issues, reviewing company policies and procedures and suggesting resolutions
•Execute full cycle recruitment, from business case development to onboarding, for all recruitment needs including coaching, consultation and ongoing communication to hiring managers at all stages in the recruitment process
•Facilitate HR processes related to Joint Venture Partners, including recruiting secondees, drafting secondee offers and developing on-going support/feedback mechanisms
•Facilitate HR processes related to Expat employees
•Actively support and/or lead the development of various HR initiatives and programs to deliver on PCC’s people priorities and practices to enable business performance and growth, and supports leadership in delivering on these priorities
•Identify and support broader/organizational-wide initiatives (e.g. organizational design, change management, leadership alignment, facilitation, etc.)
•Collect, monitor, analyze and report on key people metrics and develop recommendations and action plans as required (e.g. exit interviews, other employee/manager feedback, etc.)
•Work collectively and collaboratively with all members of the HR team (including Knowledge Management, Payroll & Benefits, Compensation, and Talent Development)
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources
•5+ years’ experience in Human Resources with competencies in recruitment and Employee or Labour Relations
•Oil and gas industry experience preferred
•CPHR designation an asset
•Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and other relevant legislation
•Knowledge of Human Resources best practices
•Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills, and ability to develop strong relationships
