As we expand our client base and technology portfolio, we are seeking a Security Sales Engineer in Cleveland, OH to bridge the gap between sales and engineering—helping clients solve real-world security challenges with technical precision and strategic insight.
Position Overview:
The Security Sales Engineer plays a key role in designing, presenting, and supporting tailored security solutions for commercial clients. This is a client-facing, pre-sales engineering position that requires a deep understanding of electronic security technologies, project scopes, and system design. You will work closely with the sales team, estimators, and technical staff to develop customized security proposals and support business development efforts with technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
•Partner with the sales team to understand client needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.
•Design integrated electronic security systems including access control, CCTV (IP video), intrusion detection, intercoms, and visitor management systems.
•Conduct site surveys and assessments to identify system requirements, cable routes, and installation challenges.
•Prepare system design documents, schematics, product recommendations, scopes of work, and takeoffs.
•Create accurate, detailed technical proposals and bill of materials (BOMs) that align with client objectives and budget.
•Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to clients, highlighting key system capabilities.
•Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to select components and stay current with the latest technology offerings.
•Provide technical support to project managers and installation teams during the transition from sales to deployment.
•Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients through professionalism and value-driven consultation.
•Track and manage multiple pre-sales projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
Required Qualifications:
•3+ years of experience in the commercial security industry, with a focus on system design, integration, or pre-sales engineering.
•Strong knowledge of security systems such as Genetec, Lenel, Avigilon, Axis, Bosch, or similar platforms.
•Experience designing access control, IP video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated systems.
•Familiarity with construction documents, blueprints, and technical drawings.
•Ability to conduct field walks, surveys, and develop design packages based on site conditions.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
•Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD or Bluebeam, and quoting tools (preferred).
•Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to client sites throughout the Cleveland area.
