General Statement of Duties
This non-exempt, non-benefited, temporary position performs general miscellaneous and unskilled tasks within the Water Resources Department.
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision of the Water& Distribution Lead Operator and Water & Distribution Supervisor.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Some duties may include, but not limited to:
•Flushing fire hydrants: This critical task ensures optimal performance and maintains the integrity of the system.
•Painting and maintaining fire hydrants: Ensure hydrants are easily identifiable and in good condition.
•Supporting the valve exercising program and maintenance: Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our systems.
•ArcGIS field logging and corrections: Perform field logging and make necessary corrections using ArcGIS.
•Cleaning well houses and other buildings: Maintain cleanliness and order in all facilities.
•Performing routine clean-up and housekeeping: Ensure work areas and equipment are kept in excellent condition.
•Administrative tasks: Organize and manage documents efficiently.
•Other duties as assigned: Be prepared to undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications / Experience
•Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid drivers license with a Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to the District's insurance company.
Working Conditions / Physical Activities
•Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day workweek. May be subject to overtime on an as-needed basis to work within the department and for other duties as assigned.
•Work may involve contact with customers and tasks performed in and around roadways, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Work is also performed on construction sites, in office situations, and at a wellhouses and water treatment facilities where noise, irritants, dust, dirt, bacteria, hazardous chemicals/air/materials, and fumes are present.
•Work may take place outside in all weather conditions. May be exposed to risks typically associated with working around water, chemicals, electricity and other man-made and natural hazards.
•Full range of body movements including stooping, twisting, kneeling, bending, leaning, reaching, climbing (heights), stretching and working in awkward positions. May stand for extended periods of time.
•Physical effort required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasional and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
•Must be able to operate vehicles and equipment, read, record and interpret information. Must be able to communicate with other employees and the public.
