SUMMARY: The SDS2 Technician works closely with the Production Department to design for structural steel and tanks, chutes, ductwork and components for industrial projects. A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of metal fabrications and the ability to complete design and detailed parts drawings for fabricators and post processors for automated parts manufacturing. Candidate will be proficient with AutoCAD and Tekla/SDS2 design software. Candidate will work in conjunction with fabrication shop and project managers to complete projects in a timely manner.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience 2 years performing SDS2 software and drafting in an applicable technical engineering discipline.
Preferred: Experience drafting in a manufacturing environment and basic knowledge of steel fabrication and accessory steel installation.
Ability to Prepare and understand high precision drawings and rough sketches to accurately convey and decipher design intent.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, etc.)
Proficient in SolidWorks CAD Software, AutoCAD or and other related 3D CAD programs.
Understanding of production process and knowledge of materials
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
Must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize work
Excellent communications skills and ability to work with all departments
Although working primarily as a drafter, occasionally requires interpretation of general designs prepared by others to complete minor details
Create and update fabrication drawings for the shop to interpret and manufacture the parts designed. During fabrication, work with manufacturing to verify dimensions and assist with additional clarification details to the drawings provided.
Occasionally as needed submit drawings for customer review/approval and incorporate any feedback into the final set of drawings that are released to fabrication
Create and interpret drawings that include layout and structural assemblies which combine equipment and hardware used on each project with parts fabricated in-house (sheet and structural metal)
Maintain CAD library of both drawing files and .pdfs for shop use
