Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Chop Saw Operator to join our production team. The Chop Saw Operator is responsible for cutting raw material, typically metal tubing, bar stock, or extrusions—according to specific measurements, tolerances, and job requirements. This role plays a vital part in maintaining workflow and ensuring components meet precise specifications for further manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
•Set up and operate chop saws (manual or semi-automatic) to cut materials to required lengths and angles based on work orders or production prints.
•Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures, calipers, or other measuring tools to ensure correct cuts.
•Select appropriate blades and feeds/speeds for materials being cut, including steel, aluminum, stainless, or other alloys.
•Inspect cut parts for accuracy and conformity to tolerances, including squareness, length, and surface condition.
•Identify and tag completed parts with appropriate labels or work travelers for traceability.
•Monitor equipment for proper operation; perform basic preventative maintenance and report malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
•Maintain a clean and safe work area, following safety policies and using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Support continuous improvement by identifying areas for efficiency, quality, or safety enhancements.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•1+ year experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
•Familiarity with chop saws, cold saws, band saws, or similar cutting equipment.
•Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, cut lists, and work orders.
•Skilled in accurate measuring and layout work using standard measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares).
•Understanding of safety procedures and a strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions:
•Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
•Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
•May involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
•Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
