Job Summary / Responsibilities:

The position of The Sandblasting Technician plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by preparing metal and other surfaces for finishing, coating, or further fabrication. Using high-pressure abrasive blasting equipment, the Sandblaster removes rust, scale, old coatings, and other surface contaminants to ensure a clean and properly textured surface for painting, welding, or assembly. This position is essential for maintaining the quality and durability of manufactured components, ensuring that all products meet company specifications and industry standards. The Sandblaster Technician also follows strict safety protocols to handle materials properly, minimize environmental impact, and maintain a clean and efficient workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

•

Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, strip, or prepare surfaces for painting, coating, or further processing.

•

Ensure proper setup and adjustment of sandblasting tools and media according to specifications.

•

Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications to determine sandblasting requirements.

•

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.

•

Conduct routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment, reporting any malfunctions or repairs needed.

•

Wear and properly maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), including clean shaven when wearing Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE), gloves, and protective clothing.

•

Handle and dispose of blasting media and debris according to company and environmental regulations.

•

Assist in quality control inspections to verify that finished products meet company and customer specifications.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

•

High school diploma or GED (preferred but not required).

•

Forklift certification (a plus but not required).

Required Skills:

•

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in industrial sandblasting or a related field (preferred).

•

Knowledge of Materials & Equipment: Familiarity with metal and their applications.

•

Technical Skills: Ability to operate and troubleshoot sandblasting equipment.

•

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in confined spaces.

•

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and quality control.

•

Safety Conscious: Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices for handling abrasive blasting materials.

•

Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

•

Exposure to dust, noise, and abrasive materials.

•

Requires use of PPE such as respirators, safety goggles, gloves, and protective clothing.

•

Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods in a physically demanding setting.
