The Sand Blaster is responsible for operating sandblasting equipment to clean surfaces using a combination of compressed air and an abrasive material, including steel grit. This first-class workmanship is for the preparation of metal materials to apply high-quality lasting finishes on Badger manufactured product.
The salary for this role will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
•Sets up, operates, cleans, inspects and maintains all sandblasting equipment.
•Cleans materials and metal surfaces with sandblaster equipment.
•Loads and unloads blast booth with parts and trailers to be sandblasted.
•Apples masking materials to protect designated areas from abrasive action.
•Cleans the blasted material of any extra grit after completion of blasting.
•Performs daily inspections of equipment and PPE for any damage or unsafe conditions.
•Trains and guides employees in the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of sandblasting tools and equipment.
•Adheres to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances including use of personal protective equipment (e.g. fresh air masks, coveralls, gloves) and WHMIS.
•Ensures compliance with Badger’s safety and high service standards in the area.
•Communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
•Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamlines work
•processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
•Participates in cross-departmental continuous improvement activities.
What We're Looking For:
•Education high school diploma or GED.
•Minimum 6 months’ hand-on experience in sandblasting environment.
•Valid Confined Space Certification preferred.
•Forklift driving experience and/or certification would be considered an asset.
•Must be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies including an air gun more than 120 PSI.
•Must be able to work with minimal direction and/or verbal instructions.

•Able to effectively communicate with others in a courteous manner and take written and verbal direction from the supervisor.
