Roadway Grinder Operator Assistant
Job Summary
The Profile Grinder Operator Assistant –Will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a roadway grinder. In this position, the Profile Grinder Operator will perform maintenance on the grinder, correct area defined by others and correct to stated specifications. While working as a team, a preferred applicant will also perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as well as participate in safety inspections and safety program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Operates roadway profile grinder
•Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION
•Completes day to day activities of grinding operations including daily/monthly machine inspections, greasing, drill logs, and replacing cutting heads as needed
•Will take an active role in safety initiatives
•Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times
•Performs maintenance on grinder
•Assists in loading and transporting.
•Participates in other tasks required by supervisor
•Ability to manage several projects at once
•Report time for crew, machine running hours, fuel usage, revenue of hours and/or surface area contracted to grind.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Must be competent in all aspects of grinding
•Effective coordination and communication skills (written and verbal)
•Ability to be a team player in construction environment
•Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
•Strong mechanical knowledge
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
•Experience in hydraulic and electrical systems is a plus
Job Requirements and Education
•Eligible to work in the United States
•Drives or hauls grinder to and from the project sites and assists Grinder Operator, Class A license with tanker endorsement is required
•Complies with company vehicle driving rules and regulations
•Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws
•Follows all safety rules, housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents
•Reports defects, accidents, and violations
•Follows all verbal and written directions
•Willingness and demonstrative ability to take direction from senior and executive management
•Participates in required meetings
•Is a productive team member that supports the team by going where needed, assisting where needed, and maintains good working relationships (coworkers, management, administration, and customers)
•Ability to handle stress over long periods of time
•Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical
•High school education or GED equivalent
•Must be safety conscious, dependable, motivated and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
•Extended hours may be required
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 55 lbs.
•Climb ladder to 8 to 10 feet to access equipment
•Remove excess build up materials at the end of the workday using a scrapper or shovel
•Work outdoors in all types of weather
