Key Accountabilities

Job Title

Leadership & Development:

•

Provide leadership at a strategic level, overseeing complex resource estimation projects.

•

Lead the geological team, ensuring alignment with long-term business and client goals, and integrating geological exploration with corporate strategy. Facilitate both technical and career growth within the team.

•

Drive the development of the resource technical team by fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.

Client Relationship and Business Development:

•

Take the lead in managing key client relationships, representing the company in high-stakes meetings, and advising clients on strategic decisions regarding resource estimation and exploration.

•

Generate new business opportunities and grow existing client relationships by leveraging a broad network of industry contacts and deep geological expertise. Actively contribute to business development by aligning geological services with market needs.

Technical Leadership and Advice:

•

Provide strong interpretation and confident report to satisfy client and aid with recovery planning.

•

Provide expert advice on geological, geochemical, and metallurgical studies, guiding clients on appropriate actions for resource development and exploration.

•

Oversee and review resource models, estimates, and audits, ensuring they meet the highest standards and compliance with regulations. Lead the auditing of mineral resources and reserves, ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Project Management:

•

Lead the geological team's efforts in exploration, modeling, and estimation, ensuring all work meets established timelines, budgetary requirements, and quality standards.

•

Ensure the delivery of high-quality geological models and resource estimates, actively contributing to the design of 3D models and geostatistical processing.

•

Oversee the interpretation and evaluation of complex datasets to identify prospective exploration targets.

Training & Innovation:

•

Establish and maintain technical standards across all geological work to ensure company consistency and excellence.

•

Lead training programs and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, ensuring the continued professional development of the geological team.

•

Champion innovation initiatives, leading or supporting the exploration of new technologies and methodologies to improve resource estimation and geological modeling. Participate in cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of exploration and resource development.

Education

•

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related field.

Experience

•

10+ years in mining/mineral exploration industry.

•

Experience in managing field exploration programs – planning, logistics, reporting, data management.

Designations & Certifications

•

Professional Geologist (P.Geo) with APEGA, OGQ or other RPO legislative body, in good standing.

•

Standard First Aid and CPR level C.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•

Mastery of geological principles, resource estimation methodologies, geostatistics, and 3D modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan).

•

Expertise in managing complex geological data and creating accurate resource models.

•

Strong leadership skills to manage, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level geologists.

•

Proven ability to lead large-scale geological projects, managing budgets, timelines, and resources.

•

Skilled in building and maintaining long-term client relationships and translating technical data for non-technical stakeholders.

•

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to adapt to evolving project conditions and emerging technologies.

•

Exceptional written and verbal communication.

Working Conditions

Fieldwork

•

Exposure to harsh weather, challenging terrain, and potential hazards like wildlife and adverse conditions.

•

Geotechnical core logging requires lifting up to 60 lbs and sustained concentration.

Office Work

•

Generally controlled, with occasional pressure, particularly around deadlines.

•

Minimal hazards, but discomfort may arise from extended computer use.

Overall

•

Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols and PPE in the field.

•

Hazard exposure varies by project and season, requiring adaptability.

•

Clear communication is essential for safety and team support.
