Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Residential Drafter to join our design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed architectural drawings and plans for residential construction projects, including single-family homes and small-scale multi-family units. This position requires a strong understanding of architectural design, building codes, and drafting software to obtain permit approval and support construction processes. Key Responsibilities

•

Drafting and Design:

•

Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, and layouts for residential construction projects.

•

Translate sketches, concepts, and design briefs into accurate and comprehensive floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed construction documents.

•

Generate permit drawings and coordinate permit application submittals.

•

Collaboration and Communication:

•

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and field staff to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations.

•

Establish communication with municipal plan reviewers as necessary to obtain permit approvals.

•

Compliance and Standards:

•

Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.

•

Maintain high-quality standards in drawings and ensure they are clear and error-free.

•

Project Management:

•

Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

•

Maintain organized records of drafts, revisions, and project documentation.

•

Software and Tools:

•

Utilize AutoCAD to produce drawings.

•

Provide permit submittal documents using MS Office products.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

•

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting, Design, or equivalent experience.

•

2+ years of experience as a drafter, preferably in residential projects.

Technical Skills:

•

Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.

•

Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes.

•

Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Soft Skills:

•

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•

Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

•

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions

•

Work primarily in an office with occasional site visits as required.

•

Must be able to meet tight deadlines and manage workload efficiently.
