Reservoir Slopes Engineer

What you'll do
This position is a Full Time Temporary “Reservoir Slopes Engineer” position working with the Upper Columbia Dam Safety
Team stationed in Revelstoke. As the “Reservoir Slopes Engineer” you will be responsible for the following activities for the
assigned areas:
•Ongoing landslide and reservoir slope surveillance and performance assessment, including assisting with a formal annual
data review, to determine if the actual landslide/slope performance meets the understood behaviour and so that conditions
which might impact dam safety are identified in time for correction.
•Implement, review and recommend changes to the surveillance plans for the landslides and reservoir slopes.
•Identify and characterize any conditions which might indicate a deteriorating condition of the reservoir slope that could
threaten the integrity of the dam or public safety, and provide recommendations for follow-up action.
•Undertake planned field inspections, for the landslide areas assigned, and document instrumentation results and field
observations in formal reports.
•Participate in the development of Operations Maintenance and Surveillance Manuals, as well as the development and
implementation of emergency preparedness plans.
•Prepare inspection reports, compliance reports and instrumentation monitoring plans for each site suitable for submission
to the provincial Regulator.
•Participate in periodic Dam Safety Reviews, deficiency investigations, capital projects for the assigned reservoir slopes.
What you bring
•Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering; or Engineering Geology.
•Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British
Columbia (EGBC).
•A minimum of 8 years' work experience in landslide assessment and investigations, with a strong emphasis in geological
applications of slope stability and/or monitoring and surveillance of landslides.
•Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
•Ability to manage several projects/tasks concurrently.
•Strong technical and report writing skills.
•A valid Class 5 Driver's License.

What else you should know
•This is a Full Time Temporary position for 18 months.
•The job headquarters is at Revelstoke Dam.
•The Reservoir Slopes Engineer will be working as a team with other staff located at Revelstoke Dam, including two
Engineers and three Dam Safety Technologists.
•Frequent travel for brief periods will be required.
•As this position requires site work at the dams and reservoir slopes, must be able to hike over steep terrain.
