An employee working independently with commanding knowledge on all aspects of protective, control and automated devices used for transmission and distribution substations. Performs the work required for the installation, maintenanoe, repair and adjustment of automatic controls and equipment protection devices concerned with the operation of transmission, distribution and generation assets. Performs tests on all types of electromechanical and microprocessor based relays, capturing test data electronically and uploading results to central database. Understands complex protection and wiring schematics for substation and generation facilities. Understands protection concepts and its implementation for transmission, distribution and generation devices and facilities. With no supervision, the Relay Technician III is responsible for certification of all related wiring, operational checks and evaluating in-service test data. Perform tests on electromechanical and microprocessor based relays, capturing test data electronically and uploading results to central database. Proficient with automated and computer aided testing processes, and engages in training new systems and methods to lesser experienced technicians. Performs other related work for which the employee is capable and qualified to safely perform as assigned.
