CDR General Services is seeking a Regional CDL A Driver in the Baton Rouge, LA area to be a vital part of our logistics operation. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting dry-van freight efficiently and reliably.
- Safely operate a variety of trucks including manual transmission vehicles, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with all regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and route documentation in accordance with federal and state laws.
- Plan optimal routes to maximize efficiency while adhering to delivery schedules.
- Ensure cargo is secured properly during transit to prevent damage or accidents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times, route changes, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Handle various types of freight including refrigerated goods, oversized loads on flatbeds, hazardous materials in tankers, or bulk items via dump or roll-off trucks.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws diligently to promote a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Assist with load & unload activities when required, ensuring proper handling techniques are used at all times.
- MINIMUN 6 MONTHS OF DOT DRIVING REQUIRED
- NO ACCIDENTS OR VIOLATIONS IN THE LAST 3 YEARS
- Valid CDL A License
- 2 WEEKS ON AND 3-4 DAYS OFF (IT VARIES)
- Familiarity with manual transmission operation is highly preferred.
- Experience driving refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks or roll-off trucks is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures including load securement and unloading techniques.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Strong route planning skills and familiarity with GPS navigation tools for efficient driving.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight using forklifts or manual methods when necessary.
