- Provide technical support to the refinery through the inspection of fixed equipment and piping to ensure overall mechanical integrity, refinery safety and reliability.
- Execute equipment inspection programs, plan and schedule equipment inspections, make repair recommendations and supervise contractors.
- Identify equipment and piping needing repair and replacement in a proactive timely manner.
- Maintaining corrosion under insulation inspection program.
- Ensure welding and inspection requirements for new replacement equipment and repairs.
- Ensure positive material identification on new and replacement alloy components.
- Direct Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) crews performing ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing and other NDE techniques.
- Choose the correct NDE technology and applications.
- Review and accept RT and other NDE data results.
- Review engineering packages for new installations and repairs.
- Participate in turnaround inspections and turnaround planning.
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary for turnaround and callout support, including night shifts.
- Approve repairs as well as witness hydro tests and perform QA/QC on all work completed within their area.
- Write detailed inspection and turnaround reports and maintain files and documentation.
- Update equipment inspection records, piping isometrics, inspection database.
- Stay abreast of current inspection codes, standards, technologies and equipment.
- Provide inspection histories and data to maintenance and engineering to assist in implementing necessary equipment repairs and upgrades.

- High school diploma or GED is required with six to ten years’ experience as an industry-related inspector with progressive responsibility or two-year technical degree with four to eight years’ experience as an industry-related inspector or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology discipline with six to eight years’ experience or combination of education and experience is required. Refinery inspection experience is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with Inspection Data Management Software (Preferably PCMS).
- Strong organizational skills and technical writing ability.
- Good energy level, attitude, and communication skills.
- API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification
- API-570 Piping Inspector Certification
- API-653 Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector Certification
- Valid Driver License
- NDT Level II competency for MT, PT, UT thickness, RT interpretation and VT / Remote VT w/borescope
- Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
- AWS CWI
- Experience with Fitness-for-Service and Risk Based Inspection methodologies
- Experience with ASME B31.3 and ASME Sec. VIII
- NACE Corrosion or API 571 training
- Experience using AutoCAD
