RC Sample Technician

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the site Geology team, RC Sample Technicians are positive, hardworking, team players who are responsible for supporting the Geology team. These positions will work as teams of 2 to manage the samples created by the RC program in-line with Kinross SOP’s.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

- Organize samples from the RC Drill Program.

- Assist Drill Contractor in drying and sorting samples.

- Seal sample bags for security.

- Check for errors in sampling procedures.

- Insert QA/QC samples as directed by company procedure.

- Organize sample shipments to off-site lab.

- Able to work in the field and stand for extended periods of time.

- Ability to work both day and night shifts within rotation schedule.

- Maintain good housekeeping at all times.

- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

- An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or a GED is required.

- Previous RC or Core Technician experience is an asset.

- Must be able to frequently lift upwards of 50lbs.

- Forklift certification is an asset.

- Possess a valid Class G driver's license.

- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather as required.

Schedule and Location

This position is located in Red Lake, Ontario. In this role, you will work a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation, with day and night shift coverage.

This is a fixed-term position with a minimum term of 6 months.
