Quarry Groundman, Maintenance, Welder

American Asphalt Paving Co. (Shavertown, PA) is seeking an experienced QUARRY PLANT GROUNDMAN-MAINTENANCE / WELDER.

Job Description Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the quarry plant and equipment, conducting clean up in and around the quarry yard, and making repairs to the quarry plant and equipment utilizing top-notch stick arc welding skills.

- Maintain quarry plant on a daily basis by performing routine maintenance and general servicing on plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors and screens; perform plant clean up duties; complete daily paper work and maintain maintenance logs.

- Identify and perform major and minor equipment repairs utilizing strong mechanical ability and solid stick welding experience. Perform flat, vertical and overhead welding, cutting, fabricating and hard facing. Ability to work in high and/or confined spaces required.

- Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment and safety inspections.

- When not performing groundman-maintenance duties, serve as a backup for heavy equipment operation. Have the willingness and ability to learn how to operate water trucks, haul trucks, loaders, service trucks, man lifts, and other pieces of equipment including learning how to operate the crushing plant.

- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Skills:

- Seeking a self-starter with the ability to work without close supervision.

- Must have a strong commitment to safety.

- Heavy lifting is required. Must be able to lift 50’s.

- Capable of working outdoors, year-round, in all types of weather.

- Be willing and available to work overtime when necessary, including weekend work during peak season.

- Position requires 3-5 years stick arc welding.

- Prefer candidate with a good working knowledge of quarry plant operations and 1-2 years direct experience performing maintenance on crushers, conveyors and screens.

- Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test, and be willing to submit to, and pass, random drug/alcohol testing.

- Pay commensurate with experience, etc.
