TWB - Worthington Steel is hiring a Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer will support the manufacturing process to ensure all product meets customer requirements. Additionally, the QE will be responsible for managing/auditing suppliers, working directly with customers, auditing the plant’s Quality Management System, and supporting the plant on continuous improvement activities. Key position results include but are not limited to, increase quality at and/or reduced cost for supply base, internally and customer base; compliance with all regulatory and internal policies; reduction in scrap, reject and rework. The ideal candidate utilizes strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills to identify, develop and follow through on a course of action relative to production-quality flow processes. This position will located in our Antioch facility with occasional support provided to our Glasgow, KY and Smyrna, TN facilities.
- Develops process control methods to solve complex problems and eliminate waste
- Leads cross functional team to determine root cause and implements corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences
- Works with suppliers to improve products through material or process changes
- Manages nonconforming material in-house and at suppliers
- Completes customer PPAP’s (Production Part Approval Process) and requirements. Develops, reviews, and approves supplier PPAP’s.
- LPA Scheduling/Report Out
- Determines root cause and implements corrective action to prevent the reoccurrence on customer issues
- Evaluates, develops, and implements procedure and manual changes
- Performs customer visits and supplier audits in order to drive improvements internally and externally
- Visits suppliers, regularly, to evaluate performance as well as review any material that is on hold
- Manages the preparation and evaluation of CAR’s related to new tooling and equipment
- Performs/manages gage calibrations
- Minimum of 2-3 plus years in a Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineering role
- Knowledge with Process Flows, PFMEA’s, Control Plans, and Standard Work Instructions
- Advanced knowledge of internal audit methodologies related to various quality systems
- Experienced with IATF:16949
- Skilled in statistical software (ie Minitab) along with MS Office programs
- Customer service focused
- Detail oriented
- Experience in auditing against the IATF:16949 standard
- Preferred Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality
- Auditor (CQA or WI Cert.), Certified Quality Engineer
- Automotive Experience (preferred)
