The job of the Quality Assurance Technician is to perform inspection activities including but not limited to, first part verification, in-process inspection, final inspection, and incoming inspection of raw materials and vender services.
Essential functions, duties, and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Works with drawings, process sheets, engineering change orders, written and verbal instructions to inspect precision machined components, sheet metal parts, subassemblies and assemblies against customer specifications.
· Performs first article inspections (FAIR) as required per AS9102 standards.
· Uses coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with PCDMIS software to program and inspect product, must have experience and be efficient at offline programming.
· Utilizes a full range of precision tools and special purpose instrumentation such as dial indicators, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines to measure dimensions where tolerances are often exacting and parts are intricate in nature. Performs complex calculations to determine angles, tolerances dimensions and other specified measurements.
· Document and report any work or process not conforming to specified requirements using the Non-Conformance reporting system and Initiate Corrective Actions when required.
· Has knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and performs quality reviews of customer documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
· As directed, conducts calibration on inspection tools and gages.
· Reviews and verifies certification documentation of in-coming product for compliance to drawings/ specifications and other customer requirements; documents results, generates certificate of compliance, and maintains records.
· Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
· May perform internal audits of the quality system as required.
- Knowledge of manufacturing concepts. Prior shop floor experience as a machinist is a plus.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 standards.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, and has working knowledge of GD&T.
- CMM programming and troubleshooting
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, height-gage, and other inspection tooling.
- A good communicator who is enthusiastic, cooperative, and has a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Appropriate combination of Education and Work Experience to perform the required duties.
Ability to read, write and understand English is required. Ability to read, and interpret technical drawings, prepare forms and records.
