Join ENMAX as a Quality Assurance Senior Engineer in this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring operational excellence and safety across our Generation Fleet. You will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of integrated management systems designed to manage business and process safety risks. These systems support a diverse portfolio of assets, including thermal heating, wind generation, natural gas generation, and combined heat and power facilities.

Your work will involve mapping and optimizing business processes, managing process interfaces, maintaining procedures, and conducting internal and regulatory audits. You’ll also lead causal analysis investigations to identify root causes and drive corrective actions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Major Responsibilities:

- Development, continual improvement, integration and analysis of ENMAX Energy Corporation (EEC) management systems and business processes.

- Development and analysis of EEC’s business process model(s) and process maps.

- Provision of an effective governance and reporting structure for EEC’s standards, procedures forms and EEC’s annual internal audit plan.

- Identifying areas of operational excellence and opportunities for improvement/enhancement through the application of internal audit and regulatory program audits.

- Lead and conduct internal process audits and regulatory program audits. Develop, coordinate and facilitate proactive improvement initiatives and solutions for gaps in defenses.

- Ensure compliance with international and national standards, regulations, industry best practice and Provincial codes adopted by the Safety Codes Council of Alberta.

- Ensure that Causal Analysis strategies and methodologies acceptable to the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) are continuously and uniformly applied throughout EEC.

- Support, coach and lead teams to investigate the causes of unplanned events/ unsatisfactory conditions and the development of effective corrective and preventative actions.

- Align Generation Enterprise Asset Management tools with event reporting procedures and ensure effective metrics are produced, analyzed, trended and reported.

- Support the Quality Assurance team in fulfilling its departmental, business unit and corporate goals.


Education Required:

- Registered as a Professional Engineer with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).


Qualifications & Experience:

- 10+ years’ relevant experience with a background working with quality management, asset management or risk management Systems (preferably in a powerplant environment).

- 10 years of relevant Plant Operational or Engineering experience.

- Experience with implementing causal analysis techniques, for example Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Kepner Tregoe, Tap Root, Causal Mapping, etc. is an asset.

- Experienced in developing and Implementing Technical Corrective and Preventative Action Plans is an asset

- Proficient in process mapping for business processes.

- Knowledge and experience with Combined Cycle Power Plants and associated equipment is highly desired.

- Familiarity with ABSA, PESR, PER, AER, ARS, ISO, CSA Regulatory requirements.

- Knowledge of ISO 55000, ISO 31000 and/or ISO 9001.

- Certified Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor certificate is considered an asset.

- Valid Class 5 License.

- Experienced in creating and delivering clear, engaging technical presentations to diverse audiences, including leadership teams, technical staff, and external stakeholders. Adaptable and flexible in approach

- Takes full responsibility for assigned projects from initiation through completion.

- Utilizes analytical thinking and proven methodologies to identify root causes, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid work model that includes Core Days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays), and more time to focus on Mondays and Fridays, either in the office or at home. The office workspace is located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB).
