Summary: This position is responsible to perform quality assurance testing, analysis and interpretation of results pertinent to finished goods. Such analysis applies to Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Sulfate and Salt products. Performs function in a safe, accurate and efficient manner. Is also responsible for the inspection, cleaning and general care of assigned area and associated testing equipment. Potential for weekends to cover 7-day rotation


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)


Routine Daily Testing and Analysis
Sorts all samples by product and status i.e. in process or finished goods.
Conducts a variety of tests to determine chemical composition, including K2O, Na, Cl, SO4, Mg and NH4 content specific to given sample(s). Also assesses color, solubility, turbidity, particle size, friability, dust and H2O relative to established quality standards.
Performs mathematical computations associated with sample assessments. Mixes chemicals to create proper reagents.
Documents all results and makes computer entries as required. Performs calibrations and minor repairs to testing equipment. May be required to physically secure samples from appropriate in-process and/or storage facilities.


EXPECTED RESULTS:


SOP/Mag/Ponds/Salt:

All shipping sample analyses (approx 20-25) from previous day are complete and reports in by 11:00.
Brine Samples (approx 6-per day) completed by day’s end.
Composite Flake samples analysis done by day’s end.
Pond summer liquor samples (30-35 per day) completed and transferred to ponds configuration map each day.
One complete sample of all ponds required.
Winter Ponds requirements are 4- completed Brine samples per day and 10-20 respective harvest samples per day.
Daily Salt shipment, and pool salt, HWY salt, and pellet/cube testing weekly or as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related Science preferred. Also desired is three plus years of related experience, demonstrating the ability to function as a member of a team in multi functional operation.


Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be PC proficient and possess the ability to quickly enter information into Excel. Must be able to navigate probe system and reconcile inventory issues.

Mathematical and Reasoning Ability and Skills: The ability to perform basic algebraic and/or math functions and work well with fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions. Must be able to proof own work for accuracy. Ability to collect, interpret and assemble related data in a logical manner.
