Universal Metal Products, Inc. specializes in custom metal forming, serving customers globally for over 75 years. We are strategically located in three US locations with over 100 forming machines, providing tooling design, value-added assembly, heat treat and finishing operations.
We have an immediate need for a QC Inspector to join our team in Pemberville.
This position is responsible for leading the Production Part Approval Process, including development of PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, IMDS, Gage R&R Studies, and other related documentation for PPAP submittals. At times this position will lead teams in problem solving techniques for continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, customer complaints, corrective actions, maintaining KPI data, and other quality issues.
- Prepare and submit PPAP packages.
- Maintains PPAP and IMDS systems, completing all paperwork as required for tracking and timely submittal.
- Supports ISO9001:2015 and IATF16949:2016 compliance by performing internal quality systems audits to determine whether standards are being met.
- Maintain gage calibration system.
- Coordinates measurement system analysis activities including gage R&R’s, MSA’s, etc.
- Reviews Supplier Quality, including Supplier Corrective Actions, Non-Conformances and PPAP activities.
- Works with vendors to resolve product quality issues.
- Assists the management team regarding dispositions of suspect / non-conforming product.
- Makes recommendation on improvements to quality functions and processes.
- Validates and signs off on process changes affecting product quality.
- Supports maintaining all quality related documentation including PFMEA & Control Plans.
- Assist in ensuring product meets drawing specifications and customer expectations.
- Ensures customer requirements are known, communicated, and met.
- Assist with, or perform, first piece, in-process, final, last part, and receiving inspections as required.
- May work on other duties as required.
- Working knowledge of algebra and statistics, including SPC
- Proficient with MS office applications
- Understanding of quality tools and concepts: FMEA’s, Control Plans, 8D Methodology, PPAP’s, and ISO9001/IATF16949
- Basic GD&T knowledge
- Experience with functional use of height gages, micrometers, calipers, and print reading.
- Prefer some college education.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization.
