Job Summary
The Project Specialist provides support services through problem solving, data analysis, reporting, and project implementation of continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on identifying and creating metrics and reports that can be used within NiSource to maintain compliance and increase customer value. The Specialist works closely with key business partners that support to ensure communication and implementation of initiatives and organizational goals.
Essential Functions
- Defines, measures, and schedules project tasks and interdependencies to achieve objectives through a clearly defined project plan/work breakdown structure to deliver projects on time and on budget
- Collaborates and communicates with internal business partners to result in successful, effective, and innovative solutions in partnership across functions for company issues, problems and concerns.
- Analyzes and interprets data for operational issues that will assist in decision making processes. Performs data mining, adhoc reporting as necessary.
- Facilitates and coordinates effective and timely communication with customers and stakeholders
- Facilitates creation and tracking of SLAs/OLAs/KPIs and processes documentation
- Develops compelling communication that effectively conveys key strategic initiatives to internal parties.
- Develops accurate, timely research and analysis. Also develops professional, useful, and understandable reports, graphics and dashboards
- Generates innovative solutions that effectively utilize business data and data analysis techniques
- Analyzes, recommends and implements process improvements to increase efficiencies
- Assists in the development and construction of executive level presentations for key projects
- Embraces and utilizes new technologies and strives for continuous improvement
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience with PC based systems, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, to create memos, presentations and spreadsheets containing basic mathematical formulas.
- Experienced in data gathering & analysis of disparate data
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in an accurate and timely manner and deliver high quality results
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills that result in clear and concise communications.
- Ability to influence and work cooperatively with partners within a matrix organization
- Working knowledge of organizational change management
- Demonstrated facilitation skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with minimal direct supervision.- At least 2+ years of relevant business experience, previous electric or gas utility experience preferred.
- Experience using project management processes such as financial management, schedule management, and scope management
- Experience using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve customer value
