The Project Manager, Fuel and Exhaust Systems, is responsible for estimating, managing, and facilitating TPL’s project management policies and procedures. The PM, Fuel and Exhaust Systems is accountable for tasks completed within two main areas of accountability: Estimating and Project Management. Within each key area of accountability, the PM will interact with fellow employees, clients, and associated partners to contribute to the overall success of the project(s). The key accountability is to take all necessary steps to ensure that fuel system projects are executed and closed on time and on budget with keen focus on customer satisfaction, contract management, change management, and communication management at every stage of the project.
What You’ll Do – The Role (Responsibilities)
· Site visits and various means of communication will be required to obtain all the necessary information from technicians, suppliers, and sub-contractors. Accuracy is the key to properly estimate these jobs.
· Estimate and provide the customer with professional proposals on all inquiries and opportunities.
· Follow up on all quotations to gain customer approval to achieve annual sales targets. Maintain and update the CRM system and quote log on every proposal.
· Draft work orders and purchase orders for all approved work.
· Manage, track, and coordinate all activities of each project through order release, technical review, procurement, submittals (drawings & manuals), as built drawings, delivery schedules, invoicing, and commissioning.
· Review customer technical specifications and drawings; provide technical and creative solutions to complex project issues.
· Establish scope definition and scope of work for projects or proposals including execution planning.
· Manage and control the cost of the projects through execution process in relation to the initial sourcing contract. Prepare final cost analysis for projects after final closure.
· Act as primary customer liaison for site meetings, issues, support, etc.
· Manage internal and external relationships associated with each project.
· Oversee accurate and timely ‘submittal/approval’ packages for customers’ and consulting engineers’ review.
· Review returned submittal drawings to ensure ‘comments’ and ‘change items’ are addressed. Work with consulting engineers as required, managing any changes to the projects’ scope resulting in contract changes.
· Ensure that all project files are complete with all drawings, warranties, purchase orders and other relevant information pertaining to the project.
· Present a professional image to the Company’s customers and suppliers maintaining the highest ethical standard of conduct.
· Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and recommendations at all times.
· Other tasks and responsibilities may be required from time to time consistent with this position and the job description and duties set out herein.
· Minimum 2 years of successful mechanical estimating or related project management experience required.
· Previous work in a service department an asset
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites is required.
· Ability to multi-task and simultaneously manage multiple complex / large and small projects with deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office modules, Microsoft Project, and database.
· Superior oral and written communication skills are required for managing communications with regulatory officials, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal staff.
· Strong technical background (Electrical installations and equipment, power, lighting, control systems, industrial network, and electrical generation).
· Good familiarity with Canadian codes and national standards, particularly with TSSA standards.
· A self-starter and a team player who can work both in a team environment and independently.
· Participate in company-sponsored training programs as provided.
· In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government, be available for work.
· Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
· Travel may be required. Lifting or moving up to 40lbs may be required.
