Directs and exercises functional authority over all thermal generation activities associated with assigned projects. Coordinates and implements large projects associated with thermal generation as well as investigate any new technologies that would apply to thermal generation, including but not limited to asset performance, reliability centered maintenance, operational improvement initiatives and plant audits. Administers project contracts as appropriate, manages the use of consultants, and has fiscal responsibility for all assigned projects. Functions as back up to plant Unit Manager and General Manager and provides overall operational leadership.
Monitor and develop strategic and operational plans for control, management and improvement of the thermal generation fleet ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Develop and implement asset performance investment management tools and resources.
Serve as the program administrator for plant audits and follow up action items as appropriate.
Coordinate and implement large projects associated with thermal generation as well as investigate any new technologies as assigned.
As requested, participates in the development of the corporate and departmental business plans.
Ensure compliance with environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training, and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the thermal generation fleet.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Eight years of related experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Project management skills: ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
