The Project Manager is a key member of the Capital Projects team and will be responsible for the successful execution of all phases of projects as they relate to Greenfire’s expansion and development initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, project management expertise, and the ability to oversee project interfaces, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices. The Project Manager will also oversee and provide guidance to the Project Engineers.
Reporting to the Director, Drilling, Completions and Capital Projects
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the development, set-up, and administration of all site common services contracts.
- Coordinating project interfaces with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Overseeing the execution of key infrastructure projects and ensuring their timely completion within budget.
- Identifying, analyzing, and mitigating project risks and opportunities in collaboration with the Project Team and Greenfire Management.
- Assisting the Capital Director in the development of processes to execute and control major lump sum and reimbursable contracts.
- Advising and assisting in the execution of capital projects from inception to completion.
- Ensuring projects adhere to approved budgets and schedules.
- Implementing Greenfire’s Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and procedures.
- Ensuring transparent and timely communication with all stakeholders to facilitate participation and influence in project decisions.
- Developing and executing project plans to meet specified objectives and goals.
- Managing project resources effectively to ensure adequate manpower and expertise allocation.
- Overseeing communication, workflow, and activity coordination across project disciplines.
- Reviewing and approving project scheduling and cost estimation efforts to maintain alignment with overall project targets.
- Enforcing change management procedures and ensuring control measures are in place for scope adjustments.
- Providing regular progress reports to keep stakeholders informed of project status, challenges, and milestones.
- Participating in risk assessment activities, developing mitigation plans, and ensuring proactive risk management practices.
- Supervising and coordinating contractors to ensure diligent performance of obligations under engineering, procurement, and construction contracts.
- Providing leadership and oversight to Sr. Project Engineer and Project Engineer roles, ensuring alignment with project objectives and corporate strategy.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Completion of an Engineering Degree with registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
- Certification or formal training in Project Management.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in large-scale projects within oil sands, refineries, oil and gas plants, or major construction projects.
- Previous experience managing large International Contractors/EPC firms and working in remote or international environments.
- Strong knowledge of Oil Sands SAGD technology is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a strong work ethic.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to anticipate and address potential project issues through strategic planning and organization.
