The Engineering Project Manager provides project leadership as well as high-level technical and analytical expertise in the design and management of complex, large-scale, capital projects that have strategic importance to the Thermal Division’s Steam and Chilled Water business units. Responsibilities include project development, engineering, design and technical support, and the management of available resources to bring projects to successful completion. The Engineering Project Manager must possess and demonstrate thorough knowledge of departmental, divisional, and corporate objectives, and the incumbent must use that knowledge in the negotiation of contracts and the development of comprehensive project plans. The incumbent must also ensure compliance with practices, policies, procedures, legal requirements, and goals of Citizens Energy Group and its partners, and develop supporting documentation for tracking and monitoring of project budgets and schedules.

Salary Minimum: Competitive Salary, Grade 10 (Minimum $84,200/year) or Grade 11 (Minimum $94,200/year)

- Prepares complex engineering deliverables for significant or multiple projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations. Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods.
- Project Management - write specifications, execute contracts, coordinate contractors, perform field inspections, and resolve problems identified by field personnel.
- Develop project estimates, schedules, and implementation plans
- Provides technical support to others, and offers guidance and direction to larger assigned tasks. Assists with maintaining and developing engineering standards and records and filing of technical information.
- Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Continuing education and technical training to remain current on latest technology changes within the power utility industry.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies. Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards. Provides technical guidance regarding projects and disciplines
- Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with Citizens Quality Program. Establishes related processes, and promotes a culture conducive to quality. Provides guidance and direction to others. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Prepares complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments
- Actively coordinates with other internal/external team members on complex projects. Responsible for defining project schedules for single discipline or may have responsibility for multiple disciplines
- Identifies key client interests and drivers on projects, communicates to project team, and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns. May offer other services to the client. Provides support to business development or pursuit activities.
- Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Responsible for one or more of the following: leading production teams; coordinating multiple discipline activity; and serving as the responsible charge for projects. Establishes work plan to be applied to a given project
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management High School Diploma, equivalency Certificate, or sufficient education acceptable by management.
- 4 years of related practical experience.
- Valid driver’s license in the United States, or alternate approved by management. State of Indiana driver’s license required within 30 days of first day of employment.
- Ability to read drawings and maps and interpret documents such as specifications and O&M manuals.
- Sound knowledge of steam and chilled water production processes, machinery, and equipment.
- Working knowledge of steam and chilled water distribution systems: including: analysis of thermal expansion and heat transfer, expansion compensation techniques, flow analysis, steam and water chemistry, and differences in various types and styles of thermal distribution piping systems.
- Proven ability to work and communicate well with others and operate with minimum supervision.
- Indiana Professional Engineer license or other recognized certification.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design and applicable guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
- Intermediate level ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned. Intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and Citizens policies and procedures.
- Intermediate knowledge of management techniques and company/division HR programs, policies, procedures, and organization structure.
- Proficiency in computer software in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and Oracle databases. Ability to lead junior staff. Ability to work in office and field environment.
- 6 years of related practical experience.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Experience in utility project management and budgeting.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management.
- 10 years of related experience.
