About the Position
The Project Engineer Intern provides technical and administrative support to construction teams under the guidance of a Project Manager. Serving as a valuable link between the office and the field, the intern assists with maintaining project flow and ensuring operations run efficiently. Working closely with project managers, field staff, and subcontractors, the intern supports daily project tasks such as coordinating documentation, tracking progress, and assisting with problem-solving. This internship offers a hands-on learning experience and plays a key role in helping keep projects organized, on schedule, and aligned with company standards.
Responsibilities
•Support the preparation and tracking of submittals and RFIs in coordination with the project team.
•Assist with permit applications and documentation under supervision.
•Help track material and equipment orders and support cost monitoring efforts.
•Participate in project scheduling activities, including updates and distribution.
•Observe field work to help ensure compliance with project plans and codes; report findings to project team.
•Assist in generating punch lists, site observations, and project closeout documents.
•Provide basic technical and engineering support to resolve routine project issues.
•Attend project meetings to take notes and support follow-up actions.
•Help document scope changes and assist in drafting change order requests.
•Participate in site safety walks and help maintain safety records and reports.
•Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership to ensure smooth operations and organizational efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
•Completed at least two years of college coursework by the start of the internship
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
•Previous internship or hands-on experience in construction, engineering, or a related field
•Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, and specifications
•Basic knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, AutoCAD)
•Understanding of project scheduling, permitting, or RFI/submittal processes
•Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in construction or project engineering
Compensation & Benefits
Must qualify as full-time to be eligible for benefits coverage: Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), an employee working an average of 30 or more hours per week or 130 or more hours per month
