Position Overview
We are seeking a Draftsperson to support our in-house engineering and fabrication teams by producing detailed 2D CAD drawings and documentation packages in accordance with Black Box’s drafting procedures. This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of customer projects from concept through to production and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
As a Draftsperson, you will:
•Prepare comprehensive drawing packages for modular electrical buildings in accordance with standards.
•Produce and revise building layout drawings, cross sections, device layouts, equipment lists, cable tray layouts, and structural integration diagrams using AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software.
•Coordinate with engineers and project managers to incorporate mechanical, electrical, and structural requirements.
•Create BOM tables, revision logs, and standard title blocks using Black Box formats.
•Interpret and apply customer specifications, site conditions, and equipment layouts to technical designs.
•Ensure drawings comply with all internal quality control protocols and industry best practices.
•Submit drawing sets for internal reviews, and incorporate redlines and engineering markups as required.
Required Qualifications
•Diploma in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)
•Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software.
•Experience with industrial or electrical building drafting preferred.
•Strong understanding of layout conventions including general arrangement drawings, section views, and equipment tagging.
•Ability to read and apply building codes, steel design specifications, and equipment cut sheets.
•Meticulous attention to detail, revision tracking, and version control.
•Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
•Knowledge and experiance with the National Building Code and Canadain Electrical Code is prefered.
Preferred Assets
•Familiarity with structural and electrical integration for modular buildings.
•Experience creating fabrication-level details and coordinating with shop staff.
•Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes, CSA standards, and engineering terminology.

Pay: $25.00-$36.00 per hour
