Project Director

Project Directors at Centrica Business Solutions successfully hire, develop and provide day-to-day management to Engineering teams that develop energy efficiency and renewable energy projects customized to our customers’ needs. Our Project Directors take a hands-on approach to performing the engineering, project oversight and other field work required for the successful development, engineering and implementation of turnkey, integrated, energy performance projects.

Our offerings include stand-alone lighting and mechanical system upgrades, HVAC control system integration and/or replacements, solar and energy storage, energy auditing, retro-commissioning and performance contracting.

Project Directors’ contributions to their team include:

- Participating in and supervising all engineering related activities, including energy engineering, design commissioning and measurement & verification, as well as overseeing and ensuring safety compliance of all project staff and sub-consultants.

- Providing management, leadership, and mentorship to assigned engineering team, overseeing performance management, as well as hiring and developing team members.

- Developing energy audit, design and measurement & verification project budgets; monitoring and reporting on professional services budgets and costs to ensure project profitability.

- Coordinating with business development staff, project managers and subcontractors to ensure feasibility of designs and accuracy of project budgets.

- Successfully delivering energy savings guarantees associated with performance contracts.

- Developing consulting offering to include energy auditing, retro-commissioning and other services to leverage engineering capabilities to engage new customers and expand service offerings to existing customers.

- Collaborating with other Project Directors and Business Units company-wide in the development of energy modeling and calculation tools to be used by our energy engineering team across the country.

- Directly performing on-site energy audits, engineering, energy calculations and design projects, as necessary.

The core components of success (i.e must haves) :

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

- At least 10 years of experience in an Energy or Mechanical Engineering role

- Experience working on energy efficiency construction projects including energy performance contracting

The following are a definite plus, so if you’ve got any of these be sure to tell us!

- Experience successfully managing a team, preferably an engineering team

- Experience with Utility Sponsored Energy-Efficiency Rebates

- Experience developing energy modeling spreadsheets in Excel

- Experience with a broad range of project markets, including commercial, industrial, municipal, school, university, healthcare, and federal.

The travel required for this position is approximately 25% of the time and will be mostly regional.
